My name is Tania Merik. I am excited to be a part of the exceptional staff at C. C. Hardy Elementary. This is my seventh year in education, my third year as a school counselor, and my first year in Willis ISD. I am a graduate of Baylor University where I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration in 2009. I am also an alumni of Lamar University where I earned my Master of Education in School Counseling in 2014. Previous to becoming a school counselor, I was a math teacher for four years, and I also worked in corporate America before joining the education profession.
I truly believe that our children are our most precious resource. An investment in our students is an investment in our future as they will surely produce social dividends for many years to come.
As the school counselor, it is my goal to develop student achievement in the areas of academic, social, personal, and career exploration. What does that mean? It means that I am here to support YOU, the student. In order to do so, I serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, administration, and the community to provide my students with as many resources and benefits as possible. In essence, as a counselor, I am in “your corner” and I am here to help you.
I will work hard to lead all stakeholders in implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that works to provide educational equity and social justice advocacy for all students.I have an open door policy and will gladly meet with you, if I am available, without an appointment. However, I do stay very busy working with our wonderful students at C. C. Hardy Elementary, so if you are unable to meet with/reach me....Please leave a detailed message or send me an email and I will get back with you as soon as possible.
